Donald Warren Gill served as a captain in the US Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. --from Norwich Bulletin obituary, 1.27.2009 Note from daughter Carolyn Gill Denoncourt: "All I ever heard was that his whole veterinary class was drafted into the Veterinary Corps and made instant captains. That is what gave him the income to get married [1943], but the pay ended when the war ended. His service obligation was not completed and he had the option to stay in and finish, or be discharged but risk being recalled to finish. He got out. He was recalled for the Korean war. I obtained some records from the Military Archives that put his Korean service at April 17, 1952 to April 16, 1954. His service number was 01 705 442. Earlier records were lost in a fire in 1973 in Military Archives."
